When you first take your new TV out of the box, the way the picture looks may not suit you or its surroundings. You may think it looks too bright, or too dark, and you want to alter it quickly. All TVs come with some settings already worked out for certain types of viewing; here we explain what they are and how to change them.

The Knowhow

Your TV has a range of preset configurations that have been set up by the manufacturer. Most TV manufacturers give them friendly names such as Cinema, Sport, Music, Gaming, and PC.

There is a button on your remote which will allow you to cycle through the different preset picture settings. They should be available in the picture menu as well. Look at your user manual to find out which button to press on your TV.

We recommend that you try each of these different settings to see if you prefer any of them to your current picture settings. Try the preset that best relates to what you are watching and if one doesn’t exist try cycling through them all.

Some TVs have an Auto setting; this uses a sensor on your TV to measure the level of surrounding light. If you notice the TV suddenly changing picture settings by itself, this setting could be the cause of it.

If these settings aren’t precise enough for you, try setting up the User defined picture settings.
