The days of washing all your dishes by hand are over, now you have a dishwasher. The only trouble is getting to grips with the controls and knowing how it all works. We give you the knowhow on adding salt to your dishwasher and where you can download the manual.

The Knowhow

Dishwater salt helps soften the water, which in return reduces limescale building up and prevents water spots on your dishes and cutlery.

To add salt to your Sandstrom dishwasher:

Inside your dishwasher, there will be a salt reservoir. This is located at the bottom left, underneath the lower basket, as shown in the image below.

  • Remove the lower basket from the dishwasher and then unscrew the cap on the salt reservoir
    • If this is the first use, you'll need to add 500ml of water into it
  • Place a funnel over the reservoir and slowly pour in around 1.2kg of dishwasher salt
  • Clean up any excess salt around the reservoir lid and when done, screw the cap back on securely

To get the best from your dishwasher, you should run a quick wash without any dishes to remove any lingering salt.
