This is easy to fix - your screen resolution has changed, probably because you pressed a shortcut key by mistake. Follow the steps below to restore a 'shrunken' computer visual to normal size.

The Knowhow

Choose your operating system from the list below:

Windows
OS X

Windows

  • Right-click on the desktop screen
  • Choose Properties from the drop-down menu

    windows desktop properties drop-down menu
  • Choose the tab marked Settings

    windows display settings menu

  • From here, find the Screen resolution slider:

  • The slider can be moved left and right. It adjusts the screen sizing (the way the visual is adjusted to fit the size of your computer screen)
  • The ideal screen resolution setting varies between different sizes of monitor, but as a general rule:
    • For monitors 14": set the slider to 640 by 480 pixels
    • For monitors 15": set the slider to 800 by 600 pixels
    • For monitors 17": set the slider to 1024 by 768 pixels
    • For monitors 19": set the slider to 1280 by 1024 pixels
    • For monitors 21": set the slider to 1600 by 1200 pixels
