There are multiple steps you can try to get power back. Check functionality after each step:
- Make sure the iPad's battery is charged. Charge for at least 20 minutes before further troubleshooting.
- Turn the iPad off and turn it on again.
- Press and hold the Sleep / Wake button on top of the iPad for a few seconds, until a red slider appears on the screen. Slide the slider to turn the iPad off.
Reset the iPad. Press and hold the Sleep / Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the iPad restarts and the Apple logo appears.
