There's a simple test you can do to see if your remote control is working. This is done by using a digital or smartphone camera:
- While looking at the camera's LCD screen, point your remote at the camera lens and then press some buttons on the remote
- If the remote is working, you'll see a small bright dot of light on the camera's LCD screen
You can also use this test to check if specific buttons on the remote are working.
Weak batteries are the most common cause of remote controls ceasing to work. Replace the batteries and test your remote again by using the instructions above.
All remotes have a small red window at the front. Dust, dirt and food can become trapped in it, or even a film of tobacco smoke or dust can accumulate. To clean it, use a sanitising wipe or a moistened clean cloth to gently wipe the area.
