The Knowhow
TomTom provides two central hubs to update your devices from. Using these, you can install the latest versions of software, upgrade and purchase maps or even buy celebrity voices to give you directions.
MyTomTom
MyTomTom is for use by the Go 1000 series, the Via series and the Sony XNV.
- Visit www.tomtom.com/getstarted to download MyTomTom.
- Follow the onscreen installation instructions.
- Every time you connect your Sat Nav to your computer, MyTomTom will check for updates. Follow the onscreen instructions to install them. Your user manual will give you more details how to connect your device.
- Do not disconnect your device from the computer until the download is complete and it tells you it is safe to remove your Sat Nav.
TomTom Home
- Visit http://www.tomtom.com/services/service.php?id=16&tab=87 to download TomTom home.
- Follow the onscreen installation instructions.
- Once installed, connect your device to the computer following the instructions in your user manual.
- Create a backup of your device’s settings by clicking on Back up and Restore in the home menu, then Back up my device and Back up now. Once the operation is complete, click Done.
- Select Update my device from the home menu.
- Any new updates will display on the next screen. If any are available, select them then click Download updates. When the installation has finished, click Done.
- Click Device then Disconnect device from the Home menu so you can remove your Sat Nav from the computer.
