There are a few things you can check to get your touchpad up and running without ever needing to call for support.
- Some laptops have a button that turns the touchpad off. This can be very useful if you are using an external mouse. Look for a button just above the touchpad or above the keyboard. The button might even light up or change colour when enabled. Your user manual will explain exactly what all these buttons do and how to use them.
- Your laptop’s touchpad can usually be turned off using one the function (FN) key on the keyboard
The FN key, usually at the bottom left of your keyboard, can be used in conjunction with the function keys (F1 to F12) along the top of your keyboard. One of these key combinations usually enables / disables your touchpad.
The exact key combination differs for each laptop. Look for a symbol that might represent a touchpad or check your manual to see which combination of keys this is.
- Check the control panel options for touchpad and mouse controls to see if the touchpad has been turned off
