Are you set to go on Twitter, but your Mac doesn’t seem to have a hashtag (#) symbol? It’s no fun when everyone else is tweeting away but you can’t have your say. Unlike the Windows keyboard, the # sign isn’t listed on the Mac and this can make it tricky when you want to join in group conversations. You can always retweet and edit someone else’s comment so you get the hashtag, but that’s a really convoluted route. Here’s a simple, tweet-length, solution.

The Knowhow

The hash symbol on a Mac can be made by pressing Alt (option) + 3 or both Alt keys + 3 in UK keyboard mode.

In US mode, it’s Shift + 3.

Simple! A solution with five characters to spare. Happy tweeting!
