As a rule of thumb - change the vacuum bag once a month if you vacuum weekly. Vacuuming more frequently, size of your home, pets in the house or new carpeting may lead to more frequent bag changes. Some models have a light indicator to show when the bag needs changing. If the bag is full, your vacuum cleaner may be quite sluggish and not working properly. Try not to overfill the bag. About 50 to 60 percent is full enough to be changed.
Find the right bag for your vacuum cleaner. If you’re unsure of this, check your manufacturer’s instructions or check online. Many retailers selling vacuum bags give some descriptions.
Turn off the vacuum cleaner and unplug it from the wall. Open up the top or side of your vacuum cleaner, depending on the make. Slowly slide the full vacuum bag towards you. Ensure the opening is pointing upwards to avoid any mishaps and getting dust in your eyes. Throw the bag away.
Put in the new vacuum bag by matching the opening in the bag to the internal end of your vacuum hose. You may need to tuck the bag inside if it doesn’t fit in as it is. Close the vacuum panel. Start your cleaning.
With dust busting knowhow under your belt, you can now start your vacuuming. It’ll be over before you know it and you’ll have a clean house to be proud of - you’ll wonder what all the fuss was about the next time.
Always refer to the manufacturer’s manual for specific details.
