- The majority of shower radios are splashproof rather than waterproof
- Excessive moisture may affect or damage the device
- These devices may be designed for use outside the shower cubicle
- Floating bath radios are waterproof but not designed to be submerged
Water pressure powered radios:
- These devices connect to your shower and are powered by water passing through them
- These are designed to resist water and remain in the shower cubicle
- Cannot be used in other locations as have to be installed onto a shower to work
Waterproof Swimming MP3 player radios:
- Designed for use underwater to limited depths
- May be useable in the sea as well as swimming pools; this will vary by model
- More suitable for surface and lap swimming than diving
- Needs additional waterproof swimming headphones
Waterproof indoor / outdoor radios:
- Often designed to resist water rather than be 100% waterproof
- Suitable for use outdoors in some wet weather conditions
- Should not be submerged in water
- May not be resistant to salt water, depending on model
Bathroom / Wetroom systems:
- Systems need to be permanently installed and mounted in room
- Can be waterproofed for a variety of wet environments; e.g. showers, steam rooms, bathrooms
- Not designed to be mounted underwater
- Full system and installation can be expensive
Waterproof cases:
- Cases are available for a wide range of portable radios and media devices
- Some models only offer splash protection; check the user manual
- Fully waterproof cases allow the device to be used underwater to a limited depth while swimming
- Can offer waterproofing against seawater; The user manual will let you know if your model offers this
- Needs to be used with waterproof headphones
